Let's define wellness as a state of optimal health for normal function. The wellness approach looks for underlying causes of any disturbance to normal health and makes interventions and lifestyle adjustments to naturally optimize the patient's normal function.

This approach encourages natural healing and minimizes the need for invasive treatments. This approach believes that invasive treatments should be administered only when absolutely necessary for emergency survival or extension of life.

When the body is properly functioning, it heals effectively. When the body heals effectively, vitality and abundant life can be experienced. One who lacks physical health often lacks emotional happiness. The two are very intimately related.

Could this explain the link between ill health and depression? Could this explain why America's dependence upon pharmaceutical poisons has done little to improve the condition of health in this country?
